Hack the System through Microbes, Policy and Real World Fixes

5pm – 6pm AEDT, 25 November 2025 ‐ 1 hour

Interactive Session

This lively, hands-on session puts you in the middle of a hackathon-style challenge. Working in small groups, you’ll take on a real-world problem drawn from one of the conference’s three themes: greenhouse gas cycling and mitigation, health impacts and pathogen control, and environmental restoration. Each group will be given a focused microbial challenge and asked to come up with a practical and creative solution. You’ll have a limited time to collaborate, debate, and refine your ideas before pitching them back to the full group in a three to five minute presentation. Whether your idea is policy-driven, practice-based, or something completely unexpected, the goal is to think boldly and show how microbiology can respond to the urgent issues of our changing world.
