Hack the System through Microbes, Policy and Real World Fixes

5.20pm – 6.40pm AEDT, 25 November 2025 ‐ 1 hour 20 mins

Interactive Session

How do you move from research findings to real-world change? This one-hour hackathon puts early career researchers at the centre of that challenge. Working in theme-based groups, you’ll tackle the shared question: “How can researchers translate their work into actionable impact through industry, policy and community engagement?”

Facilitated by experts from across the Asia–Pacific region (including conference speakers with experience in applied microbiology, microbial ecology, policy, and industry collaboration) you’ll map out pathways to impact, explore both top-down (policy) and bottom-up (community, or industry-led) strategies, and generate a short translation plan or prototype idea.

Expect fast-paced collaboration, mentoring from invited facilitators, and the chance to pitch your ideas back to the room. Whether your solution takes the form of a community initiative, a policy brief, or an industry partnership concept, the aim is to think boldly about how microbiology can respond with microbial solutions for a changing world.
