Proactive D&I Work
Applied Microbiology International recognises that responding to reactive opportunities and consultations to amplify the voices of our members is important. However, we also see the value of proactively encouraging all individuals – no matter their background – to engage with microbiology and the wider STEM sector.
As such we are taking a new approach to our D&I work, where we will design activities (including tailored events) centred around encouraging more diversity within our membership as well as supporting those already within our community. Details on previous as well as upcoming activities can be found on this page, so keep an eye out for exciting opportunities!

Hosted on International Women’s Day earlier this year, you can still access the recording and find out how you can follow in their footsteps:
'Connecting and inspiring LGBTQIA+ researchers in microbiology'
We hosted an engaging and inclusive webinar aimed at connecting, inspiring, and advocating for LGBTQIA+ researchers in the field of microbiology. This event provided a supportive platform for microbiologists to share their experiences, challenges, and successes while exploring ways to promote diversity and inclusion within the scientific community.
