Relational One Health: A More-Than-Biomedical Approach to More-Than-Human Health

28 May 2025 12pm – 2pm EDT + Add to calendar Webinar

This webinar, part of the Microbes and Social Equity (MSE) Speaker Series, features Dr Julianne Meisner, a veterinarian and epidemiologist at the University of Washington. One Health is often described as the overlap of human, animal, and environmental health. This session takes a different approach—looking at how health is shaped through relationships between people, animals, microbes, and environments.

Drawing on research with pastoralist communities and multispecies networks, Dr Meisner introduces a relational view of One Health. She explores how methods from epidemiology and spatial modelling can help make sense of health as something that emerges through ecological, political, and social systems. The session offers a fresh way to think about complexity, connection, and the role of microbiology in public and planetary health.

The MSE Speaker Series highlights inclusive, interdisciplinary research in microbiology, and is open to AMI Members.
