Professional Benefit of Attendance (max 50 points)

  • Does the event clearly contribute to the applicant’s professional or academic development?
  • Does attendance enable meaningful participation that would otherwise be limited due to caring responsibilities?
  • Will the opportunity significantly enhance the applicant’s visibility, professional network, or research capacity?

High Professional Impact – 50 pts
Moderate Professional Impact – 35 pts
Limited Professional Impact – 20 pts

Assessment of Financial Need for Care (max 30 points)

  • Does the applicant demonstrate a genuine and clearly evidenced financial need for care support?
  • Would attendance at the event be impossible or substantially hindered without this funding?
  • Is the requested amount proportionate to the care needs and event duration?

High Need – 30 pts
Moderate Need – 20 pts
Low Need – 10 pts

Completeness and Accuracy of Application (max 20 points)

  • Is the application complete, well organised, and supported by appropriate documentation?
  • Are all required details, including care provider information and quotations, provided accurately?
  • Is the application presented clearly, allowing for straightforward evaluation?

Complete and Accurate – 20 pts
Minor Inaccuracies or Omissions – 15 pts
Multiple Inaccuracies or Omissions – 10 pts

Scoring Guidelines

Total Possible Score: 100 Points

  • 90–100: Exceptional — exceeds all criteria; outstanding justification and need demonstrated.
  • 70–89: Strong — meets most criteria effectively; good justification with clear benefit.
  • 50–69: Adequate — meets basic criteria; may require clarification or additional evidence.
  • Below 50: Needs Improvement — insufficient information or limited relevance to grant purpose.
