Postdoctoral Opportunity at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa

NSF-funded postdoctoral position in microbial ecology at University of Hawaiʻi.

The Hynson and Yuan labs at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher for a position supported by the National Science Foundation and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.

The research program falls broadly within microbial ecology and offers flexibility in project design. Areas of focus may include big data synthesis, identifying traits that govern microbiome stability and community assembly through experimental approaches, mathematical modeling of microbial community dynamics, and the coevolution of symbiotic microbes with Hawaiian endemic hosts. The position is based in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi.

Applicants should have expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Microbial ecology, including experience generating and analyzing high-throughput -omics data

  • Fungal ecology or evolution, through field-based or laboratory research

  • Theoretical ecology or evolution

  • Computational biology
