This dynamic and interactive event will begin with a series of inspiring talks from professionals who have successfully bridged the gap between research and policy. Drawing on their own experiences, speakers will explore how expertise and evidence can shape decision-making beyond academia to have real-world impacts.
Building on these insights, participants will take part in a collaborative session designed to help them develop their own tailored policy engagement strategies, aligned with their individual research interests and career goals. Guided by expert facilitators, attendees will be encouraged to think creatively and critically about how to maximise the reach, relevance, and societal impact of their work.
Following a networking lunch, the afternoon will culminate in an exciting Dragon’s Den-style challenge. Working in teams, participants will develop and deliver short pitches to a panel of 'dragons', practising how to communicate the value and potential of their research in a clear, persuasive, and accessible way for non-specialist audiences and decision-makers. Constructive feedback will be provided throughout, with a winning pitch awarded a small prize before the event concludes.
