Microbiology is critical for safeguarding our future in a rapidly changing world. Microbial Solutions for a Changing World brings together researchers and practitioners from across the Asia-Pacific for three days to examine the role of microbes in climate action, ecosystem restoration, and public health. With a focus on practical solutions and collaborative research, the conference will highlight how microbiology is shaping responses to environmental stress, disease threats, and sustainability challenges.
The conference is structured around three core themes: Greenhouse Gas Cycling and Mitigation, Health Impacts and Pathogen Control, and Environmental Impacts and Ecosystem Restoration.
The programme will feature inspiring keynotes, panel sessions, and research presentations from across academia, government, and industry – with early career researchers playing a leading role throughout. The programme offers space for early career researchers to present their work through lightning talks, posters and research presentations, alongside leading scientists in the field. It’s also a chance to meet collaborators, find mentors and build supportive networks across disciplines.
This event is designed to be inclusive, solutions-focused, and centred on the Asia–Pacific region, celebrating applied microbiology’s role in creating a more sustainable and resilient future. Whether you’re just starting out or shaping policy at scale, we invite you to join us in Melbourne this November.
MSCW 2025 is proudly hosted by Monash University, whose generous support as a sponsor and partner has helped make the conference possible. The event is closely aligned with the university’s Global Change Program, which investigates how microbes influence the impacts of climate change and other global stressors on plants, animals and ecosystems. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to research that supports sustainability, resilience and real-world solutions across the Asia–Pacific region and beyond.
