Professional Development Potential (max 50 points)

  • Does the proposed activity clearly support the applicant’s professional or academic growth?
  • Will participation significantly enhance their skills, knowledge, or career progression in applied microbiology?
  • Does the activity align with AMI’s mission to promote excellence and innovation in the microbiology community?

High Potential – 50 pts
Moderate Potential – 30 pts
Limited Potential – 10 pts

Financial Need (max 40 points)

  • Does the applicant demonstrate a clear and genuine financial need for support?
  • Would participation be unlikely without AMI funding?
  • Is the requested amount proportionate to the activity and justified by the applicant’s circumstances?

High Need – 40 pts
Moderate Need – 25 pts
Low Need – 10 pts

Clarity and Completeness of Application (max 10 points)

  • Is the application clear, well organised, and complete?
  • Are all required details and supporting materials provided and easy to interpret?
  • Does the information presented allow reviewers to assess the proposal confidently?

High Clarity and Completeness – 10 pts
Adequate Clarity and Completeness – 5 pts
Poor Clarity and Completeness – 0 pts

Scoring Guidelines

Total Possible Score: 100 Points

  • 80–100: Excellent — strongly meets all criteria; high priority for funding.
  • 60–79: Good — adequately meets most criteria; consider for funding.
  • 40–59: Fair — meets some criteria; may require further consideration.
  • Below 40: Poor — does not sufficiently meet criteria; low priority for funding.
