The Society for Applied Microbiology responded to a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee call for new topics under the title 'My Science Inquiry'.

The Society for Applied Microbiology responded to a House of Commons Science and Technology Committee call for new topics under the title 'My Science Inquiry'. The Society proposed that the Committee conduct an inquiry into microbiome research and application, introducing the potential benefits of microbiome research for the wider public, the environment and the UK economy.

SfAM was selected as one of 10 shortlisted candidates, out of over 80 proposals, to be invited by the Committee to pitch their ideas in person. Policy and Public Affairs Manager Dr Chris Brown presented the Society's pitch on 29 January 2019.
