The Society for Applied Microbiology submitted written evidence to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee inquiry into Ageing: Science, Technology and Healthy Living. The submission was prepared by members of the societies policy subcommittee and leading experts within the field of microbiome research.  In particular, we highlight the importance of considering the role of the microbiome in the ageing process and the increased risk of infectious disease associated with ageing.
