AMI’s contribution to the EU Ocean Act consultation included a survey response and the submission of a supporting document outlining the vital role of marine microorganisms in ocean health, climate regulation, biodiversity, and the blue bioeconomy. Drawing on the expertise of international microbiologists, our submission calls for marine microbes to be explicitly recognised in ocean policy and management, ensuring they are considered in biodiversity conservation, ecosystem management and all aspects of marine health.

This document shows the supporting information AMI submitted as well as the individual survey responses that formed the basis of our joint response. AMI’s survey response represents the majority view of AMI's members.
