The MMEG 2026 conference will take place at the INOX, Student’s Union, in the heart of the University of Sheffield’s main campus. The evening social takes place at the Cambridge Street Collective in the city centre. We’ve included travel tips and accommodation suggestions below to help you plan your visit. Accommodation Options
Being in the city centre there are numerous accommodation options to meet your budget and comfort. Please see map below highlighting three suggested options. The conferences and social event spaces are shown, as is our suggestion for the preferential zone within the city centre.
- Leopold hotel, City Centre - the hotel is holding a limited number of bedrooms at the preferential rate of £95 bed & breakfast for the night of Monday 14 December 2026. To book... Please note, these rooms are held for a limited period so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Travel to INOX, University of Sheffield
By train
The nearest station is Sheffield Train Station, located on the south-east of the city centre and approximately 1.2 miles from the INOX suite. Direct trains are available from all major UK cities, and there is accessible public transport from the station to the University.
By bus/tram
Several local buses stop near the University, including the 120, 51, and 10, which all run from the city centre. Sheffield also boasts a tram service that runs close to the station and there are many park and ride options available, both of which stop at the dedicated University tram station.
By taxi
Taxis from Sheffield station to the Inox suite take around 10 minutes, depending on traffic. Uber and other ride-hailing services operate widely in the area.
By car
There is limited parking available on the University campus and it is not guaranteed. Attendees are encouraged to travel via public transport where possible. There is a public multi-storey car park on Durham Road, near INOX, but it is expensive for longer stays and may be busy.
By air
Birmingham, Manchester, and Nottingham East Midlands airports are all one to two hours by train or car from Sheffield Station.
